Facilities and Services

Ashton House is registered for both residential and nursing care which includes a separate unit for residents who are elderly frail and mentally infirm. We also offer a day care service. Our residents are generally over sixty years of age, however, we do accept younger residents if we can meet their nursing and care needs. In addition, we often provide care to married couples, or partners, who require long term nursing care because they can no longer live at home.

Single and double bedrooms are available on the ground, first and second floors with the majority of rooms having en-suite facilities.

There are lifts available to provide residents with ease of access to all rooms. The home is equipped with assisted baths, showers and toilets. There are various lounges interspersed throughout the Home. There are two dining rooms of which one is a large lounge diner leading to an enclosed walled courtyard/patio in the Hazelwood unit. Our gardens have been beautifully landscaped for the enjoyment of our residents, and our home is accessible to wheelchair users. We also have a hairdressing salon with weekly visits from a local hairdresser.

Day Care

We understand that for some families it is important for their relatives to remain at home rather than enter long term residential care.

A day care service can support families and older people in achieving that wish, whilst also giving relatives the opportunity to enjoy family life and the older person the opportunity to retain a good degree of independence.

We are able to provide a flexible service which can include:

  • Meals, drinks and snacks
  • Bathing and hairdressing
  • Participation in the Activities programme
  • Nurses who can advise on  health care matters
  • The opportunity to socialise with other people
  • Fees will be set according to assessment of need as this will be individual to each person.

Namaste Care

The Namaste Care provides comfort for people with advanced dementia and increases staff and family satisfaction with care. It is a seven days a week care programme integrating compassionate nursing care with individualised, meaningful activities for people with advanced dementia at the end of their lives. Namaste Care seeks to engage people with advanced dementia through sensory input, especially touch, and to enrich their quality of life.

Why Namaste Care?

  • Because caring for our residents comes first...
Because we want to connect with our residents…
Because we want to make daily routine not just routine but a pleasant and calming experience…
Because we would like to help our residents manage pain or sensory loss…
Because as staff, we would like to enjoy what we do and have a feeling of job satisfaction…
Because this job can be difficult at times and we would like to explore ways how to connect with our residents and feel confident and needed…
Because we want families to have the opportunity to build a bond with their loved ones at their good days and not so good days…
Because we aim for both living and dying stage to be equally dignified…
